At Endodontic Consultants of San Antonio, we treat teeth that are damaged in a variety of different ways. We are endodontists, specialists in identifying and resolving problems that affect the dental pulp, the nerves and other tissues inside a tooth. Dr. Rick Davis and Dr. Rick Schwartz resolve damage caused by acute and chronic conditions which result in toothaches and infection.
We act as a referral center for patients who have had dental trauma. The trauma can take on many different forms. Here are just a few of the injuries that we have successfully treated and see fairly often at our practice:
Endodontists have the most advanced training on the optimal ways to treat dental trauma. In many cases the outcome of treatment requires following specific protocols to the letter. Often the patient may not require additional future treatment as long as it is cared for properly at the outset.
When a patient with dental trauma arrives at our office, our doctors will diagnose the nature of the injuries and determine the best course of treatment. Depending on the nature of the injuries, some patients with dental trauma don’t require any treatment other than follow-up appointments to observe the healing process.
Dental injuries can occur at any age, but are most common among children and teens. The importance of appropriate treatment is particularly critical for this group, because it can affect their future growth and development. Even with badly damaged teeth, we want to preserve the teeth at least until these patients reach their 20s, when most jaw growth is complete. As adults, options for tooth replacement (such as dental implants, crowns and bridges become viable.
We are located in San Antonio, but we provide emergency and other specialized care to patients from communities such as Boerne, Eagle Pass, Fredericksburg, Laredo, Del Rio, Spring Branch, and many other communities in south Texas.
